Fleece PJ Shorts!

So this year my husband actually got to wear his fleece shorts that I made him!  I used the pajama pattern that I bought last year and just did the legs shorter to make shorts!  I even added pockets to them this year.  The soccer ball one is one I made for my brother, and proved to be most challenging…His took longer then our family ones combined…
My brothers finished pj pants!

Our Fleece pj shorts!

Our Frog wanted the firetruck material so that’s what he got!

To make Frog’s I used a pattern from fleecefun.com, she has all sizes on her website and they are free!!

Wreath and Bow!

So this project resulted in lots of tears, I know its a simple project but I thought I could learn how to tie a bow on-line since I’ve never been able to do it before…I was definitely wrong, after many failed bows, my Mother-in-law helped me tie this over a 5 min phone call…

Really wishing I could write how I tied it, but pregnancy brain has gotten the best of me…So I guess my Mother-in-law will get another phone call when I have another bow to tie!

Christmas Countdown Calendar

This is my 3rd Attempt at making a Christmas countdown calendar like the one my grandparents made for my brother and I when we were little.  The first time we had a flood in our apartment and the 2nd time we had a fire in our apartment… So this year I was determined to finish one! I bought ornaments on clearance for it last year and bought the felt back in October when it was on sale at JoAnns :).

I cut out a large piece of white Felt and 4 strips of red to  make the pockets…I can’t find where I wrote down what I did and its up in the attic…

I then found a picture of a Christmas Tree and increased it to the size I wanted on the computer and traced it with some large packing paper I had… I cut it out sewed it on and then added 24 buttons!  Yay for a sewing machine that sews buttons on!

I then checked to make sure the buttons were secure!

Then wrote the numbers on with puffy paint…I was sad that somehow the numbers managed to get bigger, but oh well! Frog loved hanging the ornaments on it and counting down the days til Christmas!

Tree Skirt

So I like simple fast projects…this took about 10 min!

We needed a tree skirt for our Christmas Tree, I had this plan in my head but lets face it I’m pregnant and chasing after a 3-year old all day…So I probably would never have finished what I wanted to do.

So I took a piece of fleece still folded in half and cut 48″ I then folded it in half and in half again, held the middle corner (the dead center of the piece) and used a sharpie with a 22″ string to draw on the 1/4 piece of it that was on top, I marked the middle with chalk  used about a 2″ in diameter container cover to draw a middle circle and cut a straight line down to it!  Yup that’s it tree skirt done. Someday I may sew around the edges and embellish it but for now its done!

Strawberry Freezer Jam

We have made several batches of strawberry jam!  I use about 2 1/2 lbs of Strawberries (we like ours chunky), and add a little more sugar then the recipe calls for (shhh)… We use Ball instant Fruit Pectin.  I found containers to use in the storage bag section of walmart, the cover spins on and off making it more toddler proof!

Homemade Soap!

Update: After using slime for soap for the past few months we finally bought some ‘real’ soap again… So no remakes for awile
So I’ve seen many posts and heard several people talking about making handsoap, so I figured I would give it a try…it was neither a success or failure somewhere in the middle…
It makes a lot of soap…this was taken when there were still lots of bubbles.

I used this post as my base http://www.pinchingyourpennies.com/2012/05/homemade-liquid-hand-soap/.

You know me I can never follow a recipe/pattern to a T.  So I used a bar of soap, glycerin and water.  Next time I think less water, would be beneficial for my soap and a better way for mixing then my mixer.  The mixer just added lots and lots of air bubbles…

So once I use up all this soap I’ll attempt again…give me 6 months or so!
